Rocks and Wheels Celebrates Fantastic Summer Sneak Peek and Reveals Exciting Plans Ahead

Rocks and Wheels celebrates a fantastic summer of community use as work continues towards the full opening of its new facilities in 2027.

A summer sneak peek has given local residents and visitors to Dalbeattie the opportunity to experience a foretaste of what Rocks and Wheels will offer, with its UCI-standard pump track proving a particular hit.

The facility has welcomed riders of all ages over the summer, while the café has also been busy with people coming through the doors to enjoy a range of tasty treats and refreshments.

Pump Track Access

Now, as the seasons change, Rocks and Wheels is preparing for the next phase of development, with autumn and winter providing an important opportunity to complete essential external works ahead of the site's full opening in 2027. This means the much-beloved pump track will temporarily close to allow ground works to take place. 

Bouldering Wall to Open for Limited Sessions

There is still plenty happening at Rocks and Wheels this autumn, with the full height bouldering wall set to open for limited early sessions from the October holidays. Visitors will have the opportunity to get an early taste of the new facility, with an introductory offer of £12 per session available during the initial sessions.

These bouldering sessions continue Rocks and Wheels' strong focus on community involvement and volunteering, with volunteers taking on the role of floor walkers. A team of volunteers has already been having fun training for the role, helping to ensure visitors have a welcoming and safe experience on the wall.

Michelle McRobert, Chief Executive Officer of the Dalbeattie Community Initiative, the team behind the project, said: 

“It has been fantastic to see people enjoying Rocks and Wheels over the summer months. Seeing the pump track in use and watching our community discover what we're creating has been so rewarding. The autumn and winter months give us a really important window to get some of the external work completed and move another step closer to our full opening in 2027. In the meantime, we're really excited to open the bouldering wall for some early taster sessions. Our volunteers have been doing a brilliant job getting ready, and we're looking forward to welcoming people in to have a go.”
